Final Game 3: Patriots 38 Bills 7

Hello Bills fans. What can I say, we were demolished yesterday. Not only did we lose by 31 points, we lost J.P. Losman for at least two weeks and Paul Posluszny for probably the year. The hit that Losman took on the first play of the game was such a cheap shot. Posluszny’s arm got caught between a Patriots player and another Bills defender. I was heartbroken when I saw the trainers putting the air cast on his arm. I can’t believe all of the injuries that this team has endured this early in the season. We have street free agents on the field and it’s starting to show in the games because we are getting blown out. This game had disaster written all over it after New England started to move the ball at will. Our defense can’t stop the run and our offense can’t get a first down. It’s so hard to watch every week but I always have hope that we can pull one out.
The way the game started out I thought we had a chance. After Losman’s fumble on the blind side sack, the Pats had great field position. Our defense held them out of the end-zone and the Pats settled for three. Losman was heading back to the locker room for x-rays on the knee, rookie Trent Edwards came in and led the team down the field. He threw a few nice passes and ended up 4-5 on the drive. Marshawn Lynch powered in the endzone from 8 yards out to give the Bills a 6-3 lead. Lindell knocked home the extra point to make it 7-3. That score would hold until Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass to Watson with 5:08 left in the second quarter. The Bills offense started to sputter after that impressive drive. First downs were hard to come by and New England was winning the field position battle. Our average drive start was the 17 compared to the Pats which was the 44 yard line. The Pats scored a second td with 1:08 to go in the second quarter. Brady hit Randy Moss on a three yard slant. The halftime score was New England 17 Bills 7. At this point I was upset but not too down because we were still in striking distance.
The second half was a whole different story. We couldn’t consistently move the ball and New England would get two touchdowns in the third quarter to make the game out of reach. The score after three was Pats 31 Bills 7. Trent Edwards was getting blitzed and the Bills went into their conservative offense approach. It seemed that on every first and second down we would run the ball and on third down pass. New England was ready for every play and it seemed as if they knew the play better than our offense did. The only positives out of this game is that Marshawn Lynch continued to run hard and ended up with 20 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. Another reason why the Pats were scoring at will is because we couldn’t stop the run. Maroney and Sammy Morris were getting big chunks of yardage in the second half. Our defense was only playing with two linebackers after Posluszny injured his arm. Tom Brady threw for over 300 yards and had four touchdown passes. Terrence McGee did not play and that hurt our special teams and secondary tremendously. McGee is a big part of this team and could have helped us against Randy Moss and Wes Welker.
The Buffalo Bills are now 0-3 and the future does not look so bright. The only good thing is that we play the Jets this Sunday in Buffalo. Trent Edwards will be the starter this week. If we can have a good running attack and the defense is not on the field the whole game, we might be able to pull this one out. The schedule gets hard again after the Jets game. We play the 3-0 Dallas Cowboys on Monday October 8th. I will be at that game and hopefully the Bills can play the Cowboys tough. Lets Go Edwards and Lynch. We can win this weekend.
