Defense takes another hit

September 03, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Keith Ellison, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. Starting weakside linebacker Keith Ellison is out indefinitely due to a high ankle sprain. This is a serious blow because Ellison showed last season that he has what it takes to be a big contributor for us on defense. Coy Wire will start in place of Ellison. Wire delivered some serious hits in the preseason but this will be his first start at the position. Wire is a converted safety but did play linebacker in college. Wire will do fine for us because he is a hard worker and a great athlete. Having Angelo Crowell out there will help both Wire and starting rookie linebacker Paul Posluszny. Lets hope the defense stays healthy from now to the start of the season. Go Bills.

Camp Position Battles

I’m curious to see how the re-tooled offensive line plays this season. This year there aren’t many position battles in training camp. Right guard and middle linebacker are the main ones. At right guard, the Bills are trying out Duke Preston and Jason Whittle. Duke seems like a good fit but with Melvin Fowler injured, he has moved over to center. He did have a terrible shotgun snap on Friday but I believe he will do fine there. Jason Whittle has been around for a while and I do like him next to Langston Walker. Derrick Dockery and Jason Peters form a very strong left side that I’m sure Marshawn Lynch will benefit from. Lets hope the o-line comes together and gives J.P. Losman enough time to hit Lee Evans deep. We will have to wait and see how this turns out. At middle linebacker, the Bills currently have John DiGiorgio as the starter. I do think he is a quality depth guy but would love to see Paul Posluszny take control of the position. He has all the tools to lead the defense in his rookie year. Lets Go Bills and hopefully our new o-line and middle linebacker will take us to the playoffs.

Pre-Season Game 2: Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills

August 19, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Anthony Hargrove, Buffalo Bills, Coy Wire, Donte Whitner, J.P. Losman, John McCargo, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

The Buffalo Bills dropped a tough one against Atlanta on Friday. Even though they lost the game, there were many positive signs. J.P. Losman had a few nice throws and Marshawn Lynch showed some flashes of his cutting ability. Lee Evans made a fantastic catch on the sidelines for a 36-yard gain. J.P. and Lee continue to develop that chemistry that came on during the second half of last season. Although the Falcons marched down the field on their opening drive, the defense led by Paul Poslusny and Donte Whitner, stuffed Atlanta at the goaline on fourth down. Coy Wire had some serious hits and caused a fumble that landed in the hands of John McCargo. Wire did a terrific job filling in for Angelo Crowell. I guess the switch to linebacker has him pumped. Most of the starters on offense played the entire first half. The play of the night on offense was Trent Edwards hitting Roscoe Parrish for a 10 yard TD. On the defensive side, Anthony Hargove intercepted a pass and took it to the ten-yard line, which led to the TD pass from Edwards. Overall the team played well but I for one cannot wait to see the finished product take the field on September 9th. The major concern I have, as does every other Bills fan is stopping the run this year. I hope McCargo turns out to be the guy that we all thought he would be. Lets go Bills. Can’t wait for the regular season to begin.
