Bills Quick Hits

July 21, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Alvin Bowen, Buffalo Bills, Chris Ellis, Jabari Greer, James Hardy, Lee Evans, Leodis McKelvin, NFL, Terrence McGee, Xavier Omon No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  I can’t believe training camp is only five days away.  The only concern I have at this time is that there are still five draft picks unsigned.  Leodis McKelvin, James Hardy, Chris Ellis, Alvin Bowen and Xavier Omon.  I believe Ellis, Bowen and Omon will get signed within the next few days.  McKelvin and Hardy will be more difficult and might miss the beginning of training camp.  The team needs both guys there from day one to learn from the veterans on the team.  Both McKelvin and Hardy will be relied upon to contribute from the start.  I feel that Hardy is the one that we need to have in our starting lineup from week one.  Hardy has the height and ball skills to help this offense in the redzone.  The team needs Hardy to take pressure off of star wide receiver Lee Evans.  If Hardy can develop into a solid threat, look for Evans to have a monster season.  McKelvin will most likely be the nickel corner unless he has a tremendous camp.  Terrence McGee and Jabari Greer are solid and are more than capable starters.  Lets hope everyone is signed and in camp on Friday.

Bills Getting Noticed

July 16, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  I just came across this article written by Mike Lombardi from sports illustrated listing three non-playoff teams that will make a big leap this season.  Lombardi’s first team is the Bills.  He states that he loves the team and feels that Bills will be a very tough team this year.  He goes on to say that last year with a few bounces here and there the Bills were almost a playoff team.  He lists our playmakers such as Marshawn Lynch, Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish.  He also mentions our great special teams and our  bright young quarterback Trent Edwards.  Lombardi is also the guy that said the Bills had a fantastic draft when he was on NFL Network.  Check out the article on SI.com.  Go Bills.

Season Of Hope

June 23, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, James Hardy, John McCargo, Josh Reed, Kawika Mitchell, Lee Evans, Leodis McKelvin, Marcus Stroud, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  We are only five weeks away from training camp at St. Johns Fisher College.  There is a ton of optimism by most Bills fans about the team this season.  Trent Edwards showed flashes last season that he could finally be our long term starter at quarterback.  He had some good games and helped the team win.  He also had some rough games which is totally normal for a rookie signal caller.  Trent showed his smarts and quick reaction when going to his second or third target.  He hardly ever locked on to one receiver and sensed when the heat was coming.  I am very excited about this upcoming season.  With offensive weapons such as Marshawn Lynch, Lee Evans, Roscoe Parrish, Josh Reed and rookie James Hardy along with Trent Edwards, I expect this team to make some noise.  Our defense is going to be much improved due to the additions of Kawika Mitchell, Marcus Stroud, and rookie Leodis McKelvin.  Mitchell is going to make an immediate impact on the weakside.  He is a big linebacker with a knack for the ball and can also help out in coverage.  Stroud will be a dominant force in the middle.  Stroud and John McCargo will help out our run defense tremendously.  This team has a bright future and will continue to improve under Coach Jauron.  Can you say playoffs?  I can.  Go Bills.

Trent Edwards Looking To Build Chemistry

June 17, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Lee Evans, NFL, Robert Royal No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  As the 2008 season approaches, there is a great article on buffalobills.com about Trent Edwards and how he is looking to improve his game.  Trent states that he will spend time with Lee Evans and Robert Royal over the next few weeks.  Players are basically on their own until training camp officially starts on July 25th.  Im excited to hear that Trent will spend some extra time with his key targets that weren’t able to fully practice due to injuries.  Evans did attend most of the OTA’s but did not participate in team drills.  Royal didn’t practice at all due to a knee surgery he is recovering from.  I cant wait for the season to start.  Go Bills.

Lee Evans & Jason Peters

June 16, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Jason Peters, Lee Evans, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  As training camp approaches for the 2008 season, the Bills have two players that they need to sign to long term extensions.  Wide receiver Lee Evans is entering the final year of his five year rookie contract.  Evans has produced in his first four years with the team.  His best season came in 2006 when he caught 82 balls for over 1,200 yards.  Lee is the number one receiver on this team and should be given a big deal before the season starts.  It has been reported that Evans and the Bills are in talks but a deal like this takes some time to finalize.  Evans has expressed his desire to stay with the team.  He should have a monster year this season.  His numbers suffered last year because of the switch to rookie quarterback Trent Edwards.  It takes time for a receiver and quarterback to get comfortable with each other and this is the year that Evans breaks out.  After he signs his new deal, look for Lee to make the Pro Bowl this season.

Another player that concerns me right now is Jason Peters.  Peters missed all of the OTA’s and the mandatory mini-camp.  At first, I thought it was only because he was still recovering from the sports hernia injury he suffered last season.  As practices rolled on, it was speculated that Peters is looking to be paid like a premier left tackle in the NFL should be.  I can’t see the Bills playing hardball with Peters.  I know they just signed him to an extension back in 2006 but they have to realize that he will become one of the best left tackles in the game.  Peters was recognized last year by the league in being nominated for the Pro Bowl.  Peters will be given an extension before training camp.  He is the best offensive lineman we have and should be paid like that.  The Bills have the money under the cap to sign both Peters and Lee Evans to multi-year extensions.  Lets get these two superstars signed and kept in Bills uniforms for their entire careers.  Go Bills.

Training Camp Only Six Weeks Away; Corner Signs

June 12, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Ashton Youboty, Buffalo Bills, Dick Jauron, Jabari Greer, Jason Peters, Kennard Cox, Lee Evans, Leodis McKelvin, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Reggie Corner, Robert Royal, Terrence McGee, Will James No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  Today the team wrapped up its mandatory mini-camp as Coach Dick Jauron canceled tomorrows practice.  Coach was asked why he canceled the last practice and his response was that he wanted to reward his players for their work so far this offseason.  Jason Peters was not in attendance and Coach Jauron anticipates that he will be at St. Johns Fisher College when the team starts training camp on July 25th.  Lee Evans did not practice today because he was sick.  I cant believe training camp is only six weeks away.  I hope the Peters situation gets resolved by then so when can build on the success our line had last season.  I watched the highlights video on buffalobills.com and it looks like the defense is going to be a powerhouse.  Our secondary has been outstanding during the OTA’s and in the minicamp the past few days.  Our offense had its share of good plays and it looks like Derek Schouman will challenge Robert Royal for the starting tight end position.  Schouman has been taking first team reps with Royal sidelined.  Schouman has shined making some nice catches.  Paul Posluszny also has made a ton of plays and looks to be 100% healthy.  He is going to be a star and I could see him making the Pro Bowl in the near future.  Go Bills.

Fourth round pick defensive back Reggie Corner signed with the team today.  Chris Brown of buffalobills.com interviewed Corner after he signed his contract.  Corner seems like an intelligent player and was running with the first team at times.  Corner will challenge Will James, Ashton Youboty and 7th round pick Kennard Cox for playing time.  This is the first time since the days of Antoine Winfield and Nate Clements that I can say this team is stacked at cornerback.  Its going to be a tough call for the coaches on who to keep on the roster.  The definites are Terrence McGee, first round pick Leodis McKelvin, Jabari Greer and Will James.  There is going to be a serious battle in training camp come July 25th.  I cant wait for September.  Go Bills.

Offense Shines In Todays OTA

June 03, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Buffalo Bills, Felton Huggins, Jason Peters, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Scott Mayle, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  The Bills were back on the field today at One Bills drive.  The offense is starting to come together after some struggles last week.  Trent Edwards is becoming more comfortable in offensive coordinator Turk Schonert’s offense.  Scott Mayle, Felton Huggins and Josh Reed all had good days catching the ball.  Marshawn Lynch was practicing but declined to comment about the recent hit and run with a vehicle that is registered in his name.  Its good to see most of the players in attendance.  Lee Evans, Roscoe Parrish, Aaron Schobel and Jason Peters were not present.  I hope Peters makes the mandatory camp on June 11th.  He is a big part of this team and we need him out there to help us win.  Check out Chris Brown’s notes on buffalobills.com.  Go Bills.

Bills Quick Hits

May 19, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Brian Moorman, Buffalo Bills, Jason Peters, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  Today the Buffalo Bills had their first team OTA.  Chris Brown of buffalobills.com reported that only three players were not in attendance.  They were Jason Peters, Brian Moorman and Mike Viti.  Peters is recovering from sugery he had for a sports hernia injury.  Mike Viti is probably still at West Point because they havent had their finals yet.  It was reported that James Hardy made the catch of the day by hauling in a deep ball from Trent Edwards.  It was great to see Marcus Stroud on the practice field as well as Paul Posluszny, who is fully recovered from an arm injury.  Josh Reed also looked good in catching a few balls.  Check out the video on the Bills website

Lee Evans is entering the final year of his rookie contract signed back in 2004.  He was interviewed today and stated that the team has offered him a contract extension.  He didnt want to talk about it but did state that he is looking forward to this season.  With the offensive weapons this team has, I dont see why Lee would want to play anywhere else.  This Bills team is young and has added a talented receiver in James Hardy, which will only make Evans more successful.  He might be holding out until the end of the season before signing a long-term extenstion.  The Bills really want Evans and feel that he is one of the core players on this team.  I hope we can sign Evans and keep him a Buffalo Bill for his entire career.

Extending Contracts of Core Players

May 06, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Lee Evans, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

billslogo.jpgHello Bills fans.  As the 2008 season approaches, I would love for the Bills to extend the contracts of both Lee Evans and Angelo Crowell.  Evans is going to command big money and both he and the Bills know that.  There were plenty of receivers this past free agency that cashed in.  Both Bernard Berrian and Javon Walker received monster deals by the Vikings and Raiders.  In my opinion, Evans is better than both of those guys and should get a salary between 7-10 million a season.  The Cardinals gave Larry Fitzgerald 10+ a year for four years with 30 million guaranteed.  I would like to see the Bills sign Evans long term because he is a game changer.  Linebacker Angelo Crowell could also get big money if he hits the open market.  He is coming into the prime of his career just Evans.  I would love to see the Bills keep Crowell because with Paul Posluszny and Kawika Mitchell, I feel we have one of the best linebacking corps in the league.  Lets hope our front office can get both Evans and Crowell locked up long term before they hit the free agent market.  Go Bills.

Donte Whitner Comments on James Hardy

May 05, 2008 By: billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Donte Whitner, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, NFL, Roscoe Parrish No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  There is a great article on buffalobills.com about when Donte Whitner was in college at Ohio State, they had to specifically game plan for James Hardy.  Whitner goes on to say that Hardy will make some noise this coming season.  He states that he was one of the few receivers in college that demanded great attention.  I feel that Hardy is going to help our offense out tremendously.  He is going to open things up for Lee Evans on the other side and get Roscoe Parrish and Josh Reed more opportunities out of the slot position.  The Bills will use Hardy size on a weekly basis especially in the red-zone.  I cant wait to see this guy in action.  Go Bills.
