Starters Play Well In First Half

August 14, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Donte Whitner, Ko Simpson, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Robert Royal, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  I was able to watch the first half of tonights game online.  I have to say that the offense has woken up.  Trent Edwards was 9-11 for 104 yards and two td’s.  Robert Royal caught both td passes from Trent on perfectly thrown balls.  Lee Evans had three catches for 55 yards and Marshawn Lynch carried the ball five times for 25 yards.  The offensive line had great push on running plays and protected Trent everytime he dropped back.  The starting defense started a little shaky but rebounded nicely by getting an interception.  The defensive line had great pressure and forced Big Ben to throw into traffic.  The ball was deflected by Ko Simpson into the hands of Donte Whitner.  I know its only preseason but this was the type of play I was looking for.  Go Bills.

Safety Position

March 27, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Donte Whitner, George Wilson, John Wendling, Ko Simpson, NFL No Comments →

billslogo.jpgHello Bills fans.  The Buffalo Bills currently have six safeties on their roster.  Strong safety Donte Whitner is going to be called on a lot more this upcoming season.  Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell will use Whitner in various roles including free safety.  Ko Simpson was the starting free safety until he was lost for the season in the first game.  Simpson is coming back from an ankle injury and stated that he is close to 100 percent.  It was a big loss when Ko went down because both he and Whitner played well in 2006.  Veteran backup strong safety Bryan Scott was re-signed and will provide great depth and special team play.  Second year safety John Wendling is a demon on special teams and will continue to backup both the free and strong position.  Converted wide receiver George Wilson played real well last year filling in for Simpson.  Wilson showed that he can play safety and had a interception returned for a touchdown in his first game starting against the Cowboys on Monday night football.  In my opinion, the safety position is one of the strongest on this team.  Our depth players had valuable experience last season filling in for our injured players.  Im sure the team will sometimes use three safeties on running downs and keep Whitner in the box.  Whitner is a physical corner that is developing into a solid player.  Wendling, Wilson and Scott will be helping out the special teams just like they did last season.  I cant wait to see this defense in action.  Go Bills.

Bills Make Roster Moves

September 26, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Merz, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Duke Preston, Jason Webster, Jason Whittle, John DiGiorgio, Josh Scobey, Keith Ellison, Kevin Everett, Kevin Harrison, Kirk Chambers, Ko Simpson, Nevin McCaskill, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. The Bills have made a few roster moves today. They have placed backup offensive lineman Jason Whittle on injured reserve. To take Whittles place on the roster, linebacker Kevin Harrison was signed. Harrison spent most of last year on the practice squad. He was released during the final cuts in September. He will most likely play special teams because of the release of Josh Scobey. The Bills have also signed defensive tackle Orien Harris to the practice squad. To make room for him, they released offensive lineman Nevin McCaskill. Look for the Bills to add another offensive lineman to the roster. The only reserves we have healthy are Duke Preston and Kirk Chambers. I still can’t believe how many players we have put on IR this season. The list continues to grow. Whittle joins Ko Simpson, Jason Webster, Al Wallace, Paul Posluszny, Kevin Everett, and Aaron Merz. I can’t believe we are only going into week four. With all of the injuries we have, I would think it was the end of December. In other news it looks like newly signed linebacker Leon Joe will get the start on the outside. John DiGiorgio will take over the middle and Angelo Crowell will be on the other outside position. I don’t know about you but I cant wait for Keith Ellison to come back. He might be back for the Dallas game. He was jogging today in practice and hopefully he can be ready for next week. We could really use all the help we can get. Lets Go Bills

Posluszny Placed on Injured Reserve, Nall signed

September 24, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Craig Nall, J.P. Losman, Jason Webster, John DiGiorgio, Keith Ellison, Ko Simpson, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Terrence McGee No Comments →

PlayerWell Bills fans, we lost another defensive starter for the year. The Bills today announced that they have placed Paul Posluszny on injured reserve. This to me is really heartbreaking because Poz is a terrific player and he only got to play in three games in his rookie season. This was going to be a year where he would learn the ropes of the NFL game and improve each and every week. He was already turning into a tackling machine and was only going to get better. This really pisses me off. How can we lose so many guys in only three games? Poz joins starting cornerback Jason Webster and starting safety Ko Simpson on injured reserve. The Bills have now lost five defensive starters in all. Keith Ellison is still nursing a high ankle sprain and Terrence McGee did not play last week due to a rib injury. John DiGiorgio had a nice game filling in for Poz. He recorded 12 tackles and ½ sack. It’s a damn shame to lose a player like Poz. Lets hope he gets well soon. The Bills today have also announced the re-signing of quarterback Craig Nall. The Bills had to sign a qb because Losman will be out two weeks. The Bills cut Nall before the season and only kept two qbs on the roster. It’s nice to have a quarterback that knows the system. Nall spent last season on the roster but did not see any action during the season. Lets hope Trent Edwards has a great game this week against the Jets. Lets Go Buffalo. Get well soon Poz.

Final Game 2: Steelers 26 Bills 3

September 17, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, J.P. Losman, Jim Leonhard, Keith Ellison, Ko Simpson, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Ryan Denney No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. Well my prediction was totally wrong. The Buffalo Bills lost their second straight falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-3. The Bills came out flat and never looked like they were into playing this game. The offense was dismal for the second week in a row. The inability to move the ball is really hurting our defense because they were constantly on the field yesterday. The defense did hold the Steelers to only 12 first half points but the time of possession and the amount of offensive plays were in the Steelers favor. The score of this one could have been a lot worse. Our defense tightened when the Steelers reached the red zone in the first half. The only bright spot in my opinion on defense was Jim Leonhard getting an interception for the second week in a row. He has a knack for the ball and is a very smart player. It’s nice to see someone trying to help this team win.
Our offense continues to struggle in every aspect. Marshawn Lynch did have a few nice runs but was not used at all in the passing game. Lynch is a dynamic back and I don’t know why the Bills don’t run any specific pass plays for him. He ended up carrying the ball 18 times for 64 yards and had one reception for 21 yards. J.P. Losman looked out of sync all day and ended the game 15-25 for 154 yards. He was high on a lot of his throws and was not decisive when he had time to throw the ball. I don’t know if it’s the receiver’s inability to get open or if Losman just can’t go through his reads properly. We have one of the best receivers in Lee Evans and we can’t seem to find a way to get him the ball. Evans only had two catches for 17 yards yesterday. That is unacceptable. This team is not good enough to win if our #1 receiver does not get involved. Evans was showing signs of frustration in the 4th quarter yesterday. He had back to back personal foul penalties. On one play he was being held while going for a ball thrown in the end-zone. The ref did not call pass interference and Evans flipped out. In all his years with the Bills I have never seen that side of Lee. Even Coach Dick Jauron was upset with the officials in this one. Coach Jauron is a mild mannered man but was seen jawing at the officials yesterday. Offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild has to call a better game. I know that the Steelers have a great defense but we have to gain more than 223 yards of offense. Fairchild has to open up the playbook and let Losman loose. We have the speed at the receiver position to take our shots downfield. Hopefully Losman can rebound from two terrible games and show the coaches that he can lead this team.

Our defense continues to struggle to get off the field on third down. We give up way to many first downs and teams our killing us with the run. Willie Parker rushed the ball 23 times for 126 yards and a td. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 242 yards and one td. It kills me every time we let an opposing team’s offense march up and down the field like nothing. We have to be able to stop the run and stop giving receivers a 10-yard cushion. We were unable to get consistent pressure on Roethlisberger and at times it seemed like he had all day to find a target. Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay need to put some pressure on the qb because our secondary is not strong enough to cover for that long. Our defense gave up 420 yards of total offense. This is the second week in a row that we have given up more than 400 yards. Something has to change. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell needs to mix things up a little bit. Maybe it’s because we are without Ko Simpson, Ryan Denney, Keith Ellison and Anthony Hargrove. I just hope that we can get this thing right and start holding teams in check.

Next week does not getting any easier Bills fans. The Bills travel to New England to face the 2-0 Patriots. The Pats blew out the Chargers last night 38-14. I just hope that we show some positive signs against the Pats. I don’t see us winning but hey you never know. Hopefully Losman can get back on track and lead this team to a victory. Just get the ball in the hands of your playmakers. Evans, Lynch and Roscoe Parrish are the guys that need to be heavily involved to make this offense succeed. Let’s Go Buffalo.

Bills put Webster on IR and Sign Player

September 13, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Ashton Youboty, Buffalo Bills, Coy Wire, Donte Whitner, Jason Webster, Jim Leonhard, John DiGiorgio, Keith Ellison, Kevin Everett, Ko Simpson, NFL, Terrence McGee No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. Today the Buffalo Bills have put cornerback Jason Webster on injured reserve officially ending his season. Webster broke his forearm in Sunday’s game against Denver. The Bills have also signed linebacker Leon Joe. Joe is known for his special teams play and will likely be Everett’s replacement on that unit. It is crazy how the defense took so many hits so far in the season. Starting linebacker Keith Ellison was injured in the last preseason game. Coy Wire his replacement, sprained his MCL against Denver. John DiGiorgio is likely going to get the start in place of Wire. Hopefully Ellison will be back in a few weeks. Ashton Youboty will take Webster’s spot opposite of Terrence McGee. This is the time for Youboty to shine and show the organization that they made the right move in drafting him last year. He did look good on Sunday when he came in. Lets hope he can keep the Steelers receivers in check. Jim Leonhard will start at free safety with Ko Simpson being injured. Simpson was also placed on injured reserve. I was really upset when he got hurt because he and Donte Whitner made a great safety tandem. They both played well together as rookies last year. Lets hope the guys who are taking the place of our injured players contribute and get us a win against the Steelers. Lets go Buffalo.

Bills Make Roster Moves

September 11, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Coy Wire, Eric Powell, Jason Jefferson, Jason Webster, Ko Simpson, Matt Murphy, NFL No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. Over the last couple of days we have all been through a lot. With Everett’s serious injury and a few others going down, we have made some roster moves. Matt Murphy, who was released before the game on Sunday, was re-signed. The Bills also signed tight end Michael Gaines. Gaines played for Carolina last year. He is a big tight end known for his blocking. The Bills also placed safety Ko Simpson on injured reserve after he fractured his ankle on Sunday. The team also released backup defensive end Eric Powell. That is a surprise move being that we only have three healthy ends and one is primarily a long snapper. Defensive tackle Jason Jefferson has moved over from defensive tackle to play end to spell Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay. Look for the Bills to sign a few players tomorrow. They will most likely be picking up a safety and a defensive end. It would not surprise me if they also picked up a linebacker and a cornerback due to both Jason Webster and Coy Wire getting hurt. Webster is most likely out for the year and Wire will most likely miss at least four weeks. I still can’t believe that all of this has happened and we are only going into week two. Lets Go Bills and please pull together and win one this Sunday.

Preview Game 1: Broncos vs. Bills

September 08, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Coy Wire, Die Hard Bills Fan, Donte Whitner, J.P. Losman, Jabari Greer, Jason Webster, John McCargo, Josh Reed, Ko Simpson, Kyle Williams, Larry Tripplett, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Peerless Price, Roscoe Parrish, Terrence McGee, Tim Anderson No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. This Sunday the Denver Broncos travel to Ralph Wilson Stadium to take on our Buffalo Bills. This game has many key matchups and here are a few that the Bills need to win in order to take this game.

Travis Henry vs. Bills run defense: Kyle Williams, Larry Tripplett, Aaron Schobel, Chris Kelsay, John McCargo, and Tim Anderson need to come up big in stopping Henry. They have to occupy blockers so Posluszny, Crowell, and Wire can attack the ball carrier. The Broncos have a very good line and are known for their chop blocks. Hopefully McCargo can use his speed and get into the backfield to disrupt some of Henry’s running lanes. Look for Poz to be all over the field in this game. I’m predicting 10 tackles and a forced fumble. I also feel that Crowell and Wire will be all over the field as well.

Lee Evans and Peerless Price vs. Champ Bailey and Dre Bly: I am looking forward to see how well Evans does against arguably the best corner in the league in Champ Bailey.
Lee Evans has the speed to get by Bailey so the Bills should go deep right away to take Bailey out of his game. Peerless Price needs to have a good game against Bly to take away some pressure from Evans. Also look for Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish to play a big role in the slot. I feel that we can attack Denver either with the long ball or quick routes from our speedy slot receivers. I’m predicting Lee Evans to have 6 catches for 107 yards and one touchdown. Peerless will have 5 catches for 60 yards. Parrish and Reed will combine for over 100 yards with Reed having a touchdown grab. Also look for Reed to have a running play. He has a knack for breaking tackles.

Jay Cutler vs. Bills secondary: We all know that Jay Cutler has a cannon. Some of the passes he made last year were amazing. Terrence McGee, Jason Webster, Donte Whitner and Ko Simpson need to be on their game tomorrow. Denver has a few good wide receivers especially Javon Walker. Look for McGee to be locked in on him all day. I’m predicting an interception from Whitner. I really feel that he will have a great year at the strong safety position. Jabari Greer should get some time as the nickel back.

I feel that those three are the key matchups the Bills need to win in order to get a victory tomorrow. I can’t wait to see Marshawn Lynch and hope that he has a great game. J.P. Losman will be ready to go and lead this team to victory. For all of you fans with the Sunday ticket, The Bills are on channel 704 and in HD on channel 719. My prediction is Bills 27 - Broncos 20.
