Bills To Keep Losman

April 16, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

jp-losman.jpgHello Bills fans.  Today Russ Brandon announced that the team plans on keeping J.P. Losman for the 2008 season.  Brandon stated that Losman is under contract and will be kept despite rumors of the team looking to trade him for a draft pick.  I feel better knowing that the team will have an experienced backup to Trent Edwards.  To be successful in this league, you must have backups that when called upon can come in and get the job done.  I still like Losman a lot and felt that after the 2006 season that he would be our long term starter.  Things of course did not work out that way but having him around for another season gives the team a backup with starting experience.  Check out the article on NFL.com.  Go Bills.

Should Bills Trade Losman?

January 23, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  The biggest decision the front office has to make this off-season is if the Bills will trade J.P. Losman.  With new coordinator Turk Schonert in place, it has already been announced that Trent Edwards will be the starting quarterback in 2008.  I for one don’t think they should unless a team gives up either a starting player or a great draft pick.  Edwards will only be going into his second season and the Bills do not have another experienced NFL quarterback on their roster.  Losman has one year left on his contract and if the Bills were smart they would keep him around for insurance.  I really thought Losman was going to have a great season in 07 because of the way he finished off the 2006 campaign.  It is a shame that he just couldn’t develop any type of consistency and was outplayed by a rookie.  Trent does need more time to develop but I was encouraged by how well he played without many weapons.  If the team can add a tall wide receiver and a pass catching tight end, Edwards will do just fine this coming season.  Good luck to JP and lets go Bills.

Losman Wants Out

January 05, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

losman_jp.jpgHello Bills fans.  J.P. Losman’s agent says that its time for the Bills to trade Losman.  He also stated that if a trade does not happen, his client would play out the last year of his contract.  I can’t blame J.P. for wanting to be traded.  He came into this season as the starter and the Bills drafted Trent Edwards.  When Edwards took the field and played well, Losman was doomed.  I feel bad for JP because I really thought he was going to be our quarterback.  The Bills brass really messed up with JP and made him always believe that he was playing for his job week in and week out.  Check out the article on ESPN.  I hope JP stays this season as a backup to Trent because we really need someone with experience behind a young qb.  Whatever happens I wish Losman the best.  He became one of my favorite players because of his cannon arm and his scrambling ability.  Go Bills.

Preview Game 12: Bills vs. Redskins

December 01, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Anthony Hargrove, Anthony Thomas, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Fred Jackson, J.P. Losman, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

buffalo-bills-logo.gifHello Bills fans. This Sunday the Buffalo Bills travel to FedEx field to take on the Washington Redskins. This is a must win to stay in the playoff hunt. The Redskins are playing with heavy hearts due to the death of Sean Taylor. This is going to be an extremely tough game because the skins are going to want this one for their fallen teammate. Here are the key matchups to this week’s game.

Trent Edwards vs. Redskins defense: Rookie quarterback Trent Edwards will start this week in place of J.P. Losman. It looks like its now Edwards job to lose. Trent must be smart with the football this week. For the Bills to win this one, he has to be accurate and poised in the pocket. Look for Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish to have big games. Edwards is great at leading his receivers and allowing them to get yards after the catch. I would love to see Lee Evans have a breakout game. Edwards will look to Evans to get the offense rolling.

Clinton Portis vs. Bills Defense. This is going to be a tough task for the Bills. Starting defensive end Chris Kelsay is out this week. Anthony Hargrove and Ryan Denney must fill in and be effective in run support. The defense cannot let Portis outside and must contain him to win this game. It seems like we haven’t had a fumble recovery in forever. I would like to see John McCargo bust up a running play and force a fumble. Look for the Bills to put eight guys at the line of scrimmage to minimize Portis in the run game.

This is a very winnable game for the Bills. The Redskins come into the game with the same record and have struggled at times. The main thing is our offense must move the ball and score touchdowns instead of settling for field goals. Trent must lead this team and find a win to get a win. I do feel that running back Fred Jackson will do well in place of A-Train. My prediction…..Bills 24 Redskins 20

Bills Still Alive In Playoff Hunt

November 27, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

billslogo.jpgHello Bills fans. Even though we have been blown out the past two games, the Bills are still alive in the playoff hunt. We are two games out of the final spot with five to play. I don’t see us catching the Jaguars because they are 8-3 plus they beat us last week. The Browns are at 7-4 and play the Bills on December 16th. Hopefully Trent Edwards can lead us to victory against the Redskins and the Dolphins. It would be nice for the Bills to be 7-6 going into the Cleveland game. The Browns have played really well this year and that game will decide our season. Although we have struggled, I feel the team will not give up and will fight even harder with Edwards as the starter. Stranger things have happened and with a few bounces here and there we might be able to sneak into the playoffs. I don’t really see us having much of a chance if we did get in but it sure would be nice to get there. Lets hope Marshawn Lynch gets healthy and returns to the lineup soon. Trent needs to have him back there just like J.P did the last two weeks. That Monday night collapse against Dallas is really going to haunt us if we end up a game out of the wild card. Let go Bills. Lets win the last five games.

Trent Edwards Gets The Start

November 26, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

dickjauron2007-200.jpgtrent-edwards.jpgHello Bills fans. Today Coach Dick Jauron announced that quarterback Trent Edwards will start this week against the Washington Redskins. This change does not surprise me because J.P. Losman has struggled the last three weeks. I think yesterday was the last straw for Losman. In a game that the Bills needed to win to stay in the playoff hunt, Losman made many mistakes. It is a shame because I really like J.P. and always felt he could be a really good quarterback in this league. The Bills want to see what Trent can do for the rest of the season. They know what they have in Losman. He is the type of quarterback that can wow you with his strong arm but also make you scratch your head after a terrible interception. Losman is the same type of quarterback as Rex Grossman and Kyle Boller. All three have rocket arms but struggle to make the right decisions. Losman throws one of the best deep balls in the league but cannot hit his receivers in stride or over the middle. It kills me to say this but I believe this is the right move by this franchise. Hopefully Edwards can lead us to victory and show the organization that he is the future. I feel bad for Losman and would love for him to stay as a backup. I doubt that will happen. In the games that Edwards has started this year, he seems to have a knack for finding the open receiver and hitting him in stride. With the proper protection, Edwards has the ability to carve up a defense. He also is better at controlling the clock and making the correct reads. Losman seems to lock onto one receiver and forces way to many throws. I’m assuming the switch to Edwards is for the rest of the season unless and injury occurs. Good luck Trent. I will be supporting you all the way. Go Bills.

Final Game 11: Jaguars 36 Bills 14

November 25, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Anthony Thomas, Buffalo Bills, Fred Jackson, George Wilson, J.P. Losman, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Trent Edwards No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. Well all I can say is that the J.P. Losman era might officially be over. Although he was not the only one to blame for this 22-point loss to Jacksonville, he did make many mistakes. His two interceptions and one fumble were all drive killers. Both interceptions were forced throws into double and triple coverage. With the Bills trailing 13-7 in the second quarter, Losman fumbled on a third and one play with a little over two minutes remaining. This proved to be a costly turnover because the Bills were driving and could have got into field goal range or even scored a touchdown. The fumble led to a Jacksonville field goal giving them a 16-7 lead going into the half. If we could have gotten even a field goal and went into the half only down by three, it would have been a whole different ball game. Losman looked scared in the pocket and kept on dumping the ball off to Anthony Thomas. I have no problem with doing that to gain yards but at some point you have to take your shots down the field. Lee Evans was held without a catch until garbage time in the fourth quarter. Offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild has to find a way to get Evans more involved if this team wants to succeed. He is our best receiver and needs to be thrown to more than a few times a game. It also extremely hurts that Marshawn Lynch is injured. He was our whole offense for the first nine games of the season. The A-train is not cutting it. He did make a nice play on his first career-receiving touchdown. I hope Lynch is ready when we take on Washington next week. Now on to the defense. The Bills really need to change things up here. Our defensive line cannot get to the quarterback. They also can’t get off of the field on third downs. We allow way to many third down conversions. I also think a change needs to be made in the secondary. George Wilson is not cutting it at free safety. I know that we have a lot of injuries but he seems to be out of position and doesn’t have the speed to recover. David Garrad had all the time in the world and nearly threw for 300 yards. The only positive today from the defense was that they held Jacksonville without a touchdown in the red zone. We had many chances today to get back into the game but Losman and the offense couldn’t deliver. I was a really big Losman supporter and wanted to see him as our starting quarterback. I am now saying that I want to see Trent Edwards for the rest of the season. I know what Losman has and he is not consistent enough to be a starter in this league. He has all the physical tools but plays scared and doesn’t see the field well. Well another disappointing game and at 5-6 the playoffs seem almost out of reach.

Preview Game 11: Bills vs. Jaguars

November 24, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Brian Moorman, Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, Lee Evans, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Terrence McGee No Comments →

buffalo-bills-logo.gifHello Bills fans. This Sunday the Buffalo Bills travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. This is a must win game for the Bills if they want to stay in wild card contention. Jacksonville comes into this one with a 7-3 record. They have a tremendous defense and an excellent running back tandem. Here are the key matchups the Bills most win to come out of this one victorious.

J.P. Losman vs. Jacksonville Defense: As I stated in a previous post, Losman needs to have a big game to hold onto his starting job. He needs to be accurate and get rid of the ball when the heat is on. I hope he can hook up with Lee Evans on some deep routes to help get us into the endzone. Losman must put this team on his back and lead us to victory. I just want to see him have a monster game. He is due for a 300 yard 3 td performance.

Jones-Drew & Fred Taylor vs. Bills Defense: This is going to be a tough task for the run defense this week. Jones-Drew has the power to break tackles and the speed to take it to the house. The defense has to forget about last week and come out and perform at a high level. If we can slow down the run, this will put more pressure on David Garrad. Although Garrad has played well this year, we need to force him into some bad throws. I hope our big guys up front can get penetration and slow down both Jones-Drew and Taylor.

Special Teams: In my opinion, special teams are going to play a major part in this game. Jones-Drew is a dangerous kick returner. Our coverage units must play solid and not allow him to get the Jaguars in good field position. Rian Lindell has been great all year and will have to hit all of his attempts. Brian Moorman must also pin the Jaguars back so we can win the field position battle. I would love to see Roscoe Parrish and Terrence McGee break some long returns.

The Bills are treating this game like a playoff game. Jacksonville is in the wild card hunt also and needs this game just as bad as we do. To be successful, the Bills offense must not turn the ball over and the defense has to get some sort of a pass rush against Garrad. This is going to be a tough game but hopefully we can come out victorious. My prediction….Bills 20 Jaguars 17.

Bills Must Win Sunday

November 23, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Anthony Thomas, Buffalo Bills, Fred Jackson, J.P. Losman, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

billslogo.jpgHello Bills fans. For the second straight week Marshawn Lynch will not play. Anthony Thomas will get the start and Dwayne Wright will be the backup. I would really love to see the Bills give Fred Jackson a chance. Jackson has the speed and elusiveness to pickup some big gains. Hopefully we can run the ball this week against a tough Jacksonville defense.

J.P. Losman will make his fourth straight start. He is looking to rebound from last week’s shaky performance. Look for Losman to air it out in this game because he knows the team needs this win and his job is on the line. I hope he has a great game because I feel that he gives us the best chance to win down the stretch. Losman just needs to improve his accuracy and decision-making. Many experts feel that Trent Edwards has a greater upside than Losman. Although I do like Trent a lot, he is still a rookie and will go through some growing pains. I just want this team to decide on a quarterback and go with it. Lets play to J.P’s strengths and launch the ball to Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish.

Roscoe Parrish needs to be used more in this offense. Although he is undersized, Parrish makes up for it with his quickness and elusiveness. It almost seems that there is a chance that every time he touches the ball he can go the distance. I want to see the Bills run some end arounds and quick slants to Roscoe. He deserves to have the ball in his hands more. Using Roscoe will open up some big plays for Lee Evans and Josh Reed.

The offensive line must have a strong game this week both in pass protection and run blocking. The Jaguars have a very strong defensive line that does not give up yards on the ground. Our offensive line must give Losman time to throw the ball and try to get some push so A-train has some holes to run through. This is going to be a tough task for the big guys. Lets Go Bills. Beat the Jaguars.

Losman Press Conference

November 21, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Buffalo Bills, Die Hard Bills Fan Buddies, J.P. Losman, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL No Comments →

billslogo.jpgHello Bills fans. I just watched J.P.’s press conference on buffalobills.com. He stated that the team is taking this weeks game as a playoff. They need to have this one to stay in the hunt. I couldn’t agree with that more. The Bills need to beat the Jaguars if they want to make a push for the postseason. The Jaguars currently stand two games up on the Bills with six to go. Losman needs to be on his A game because this might be his final shot. The team must move the ball and eat up some clock. Going into this season I thought our offense was going to dominate. We started to click at the end of last season. I don’t know if it’s the play calling or the personnel on the field. We have the weapons and need to use them. It does hurt if we don’t have Marshawn Lynch again this week, which looks likely. I think one of our major problems is not having a solid #2 receiver. I love Josh Reed but he is best suited for the slot role. This offseason we need to either draft a tall receiver or trade for one. The offense needs a second threat to take some heat off of Lee Evans. I’m still waiting for that game where everything clicks. I want to see the offense score at will and the defense shut down an opponent. It’s going to be a tough task against the Jaguars because they have a really good defense. Please J.P. bring one home. Lets go Bills.
