Defense Impressive in Win over Ravens

October 22, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Anthony Hargrove, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Donte Whitner, Jabari Greer, John DiGiorgio, John McCargo, Kyle Williams, NFL, Terrence McGee No Comments →

john-digiorgio.jpghargrove.jpgHello Bills fans. Still flying high after our win yesterday. Mondays are so much better after a win. One thing I have to say is I love the way the defense is playing. Angelo Crowell was all over the field yesterday. He led the team in tackles and had a big forced fumble in the first half. It also seems that middle linebacker John DiGiorgio is developing into a real good player. He has tremendous speed and seems to always be around the ball. DiGiorgio shows that he belongs out there and plays hard every snap. Anthony Hargrove is another player that has sparked this defense. Since coming back from his suspension, he has been a relentless pass rusher and just seems to fire everyone up. I really like the way our young defensive tackles are playing. Both Kyle Williams and John McCargo had tackles for loss yesterday and show they can get into the backfield. McCargo is showing why the Bills traded up to get him in the first round in 2006. Jabari Greer is also another player that has stepped up his game and contributes every week. Greer and Terrence McGee give the Bills two corners with great closing speed. There are both very aggressive and really good tacklers. Donte Whitner is also playing well. He has really impressed me with his toughness against the run and his ability to help the corners out in coverage. Credit also has to be given to defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. He has really developed great game plans even though he is missing some of his starters. The only thing that concerns me is that Chris Kelsay injured his ankle yesterday. It was not said how serious the injury was but we cannot afford to lose another defensive starter. This defense seems destined to show everyone that they are no pushovers. Lets go Bills. Bring home another victory.

Secondary Has Tough Task Ahead

buffalo-bills-logo.gifHello Bills fans. I just want to say congratulations to Jabari Greer for winning AFC defensive player of the week. He had a really good game against the Jets last week and with his interception and setup what would be the winning touchdown. This week the Bills secondary will be tested. They go up against a real good receiving corp. Dallas has Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, and Jason Witten. Jabari Greer and Terrence McGee have their work cut out for them. It is also going to be extremely hard covering Witten. He is a favorite target of Tony Romo. I hope either Keith Ellison or Angelo Crowell can disrupt some over the middle passes to Witten. I’m curious to see the game plan that defensive coordinator Perry Fewell has in place. I think we should play aggressive and take some chances. Our defensive line has to stop the run and force Dallas into a lot of third and longs. It will be tough to do but this being our first Monday night game at home in 13 years, I’m sure the crowd will cause some false starts by the Cowboys offense. Donte Whitner also needs to have a big game this week. He will be switching back and forth during the game from strong to free safety. Hopefully Whitner can come up with an interception and breakup a few pass plays in this one. Lets go Bills.

Bills Defense Getting Some Help?

October 03, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Anthony Hargrove, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Donte Whitner, Jabari Greer, Jim Leonhard, Keith Ellison, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Terrence McGee No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. There is some potential great news for the Bills defense. Linebacker Keith Ellison practiced today and could be ready to go for Monday night’s game. It was said that Ellison did not experience any pain and was full go at practice. Ellison is a very good cover linebacker and it will only help the defense. I wish Posluszny didn’t get hurt because I really wanted to see him, Ellison, and Angelo Crowell on the field at the same time. Ellison had a high ankle sprain that has sidelined him for the first four games. It would be a big boost if he can go against Dallas. In other news, starting strong safety Donte Whitner is moving to free safety this week due to the injury to Jim Leonhard. Bryan Scott is starting at the strong safety position. He is better suited for that role. I feel Whitner will do a great job and will be excellent in supporting both Jabari Greer and Terrence McGee against the high-powered Cowboys offense. Defensive end Anthony Hargrove is eligible to return to the team this week. The Bills have yet added him to the 53-man roster. Look for that to happen in the next few days. I believe they have until Sunday to do so. I am happy that Hargrove is back. He brings energy to this team. It will also be good for our defensive end rotation. Having Hargrove spell both Schobel and Kelsay will make both stay fresh for the entire game. After the bye, defensive end Ryan Denney should be back. This will be yet another boost to our defensive line. Denney is just as good in my opinion as Kelsay. Can’t wait to finally get a little help on the defensive side. Go Bills and lets show the national audience what we are made of.

Bills defense takes a few more hits

October 01, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Ashton Youboty, Buffalo Bills, Donte Whitner, George Wilson, Jabari Greer, Jim Leonhard, John Wendling, Kevin Harrison, NFL No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. After a great win yesterday, The Bills have lost a few more defensive players. Jim Leonhard injured his calf, Kevin Harrison injured his knee and Ashton Youboty injured his ankle. This has to stop soon. Leonhard was filling in for injured free safety Ko Simpson. The Bills will now have to turn to recently acquired Bryan Scott to fill in until Leonhard is ready to go. Harrison was just recently signed for linebacker depth and special teams. The Bills will now have to find someone to fill his role very soon. Ashton Youboty appeared be not as bad as the other two. Look for Jabari Greer to take over. Greer had a great game yesterday and looks like the Bills best cover corner. Greer has the speed and he takes chances. You need a corner that is not afraid to go for an interception. Its a shame that Leonhard got hurt. He showed some promise and was settling in nicely. I cannot believe that we are down to one starting linebacker and on our third free safety. Maybe the team will move Whitner over and start either converted wide receiver George Wilson or rookie John Wendling. I would love to see Wendling play. I say give Wendling a shot but Coach Jauron might choose the experience and go with Scott. The Bills secondary will have a tough task in front of them next Monday against the Cowboys. Lets go Bills. And please no more injuries. Can’t wait to go the Buffalo this weekend.

Bills put Webster on IR and Sign Player

September 13, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Ashton Youboty, Buffalo Bills, Coy Wire, Donte Whitner, Jason Webster, Jim Leonhard, John DiGiorgio, Keith Ellison, Kevin Everett, Ko Simpson, NFL, Terrence McGee No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. Today the Buffalo Bills have put cornerback Jason Webster on injured reserve officially ending his season. Webster broke his forearm in Sunday’s game against Denver. The Bills have also signed linebacker Leon Joe. Joe is known for his special teams play and will likely be Everett’s replacement on that unit. It is crazy how the defense took so many hits so far in the season. Starting linebacker Keith Ellison was injured in the last preseason game. Coy Wire his replacement, sprained his MCL against Denver. John DiGiorgio is likely going to get the start in place of Wire. Hopefully Ellison will be back in a few weeks. Ashton Youboty will take Webster’s spot opposite of Terrence McGee. This is the time for Youboty to shine and show the organization that they made the right move in drafting him last year. He did look good on Sunday when he came in. Lets hope he can keep the Steelers receivers in check. Jim Leonhard will start at free safety with Ko Simpson being injured. Simpson was also placed on injured reserve. I was really upset when he got hurt because he and Donte Whitner made a great safety tandem. They both played well together as rookies last year. Lets hope the guys who are taking the place of our injured players contribute and get us a win against the Steelers. Lets go Buffalo.

Preview Game 1: Broncos vs. Bills

September 08, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Coy Wire, Die Hard Bills Fan, Donte Whitner, J.P. Losman, Jabari Greer, Jason Webster, John McCargo, Josh Reed, Ko Simpson, Kyle Williams, Larry Tripplett, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Peerless Price, Roscoe Parrish, Terrence McGee, Tim Anderson No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. This Sunday the Denver Broncos travel to Ralph Wilson Stadium to take on our Buffalo Bills. This game has many key matchups and here are a few that the Bills need to win in order to take this game.

Travis Henry vs. Bills run defense: Kyle Williams, Larry Tripplett, Aaron Schobel, Chris Kelsay, John McCargo, and Tim Anderson need to come up big in stopping Henry. They have to occupy blockers so Posluszny, Crowell, and Wire can attack the ball carrier. The Broncos have a very good line and are known for their chop blocks. Hopefully McCargo can use his speed and get into the backfield to disrupt some of Henry’s running lanes. Look for Poz to be all over the field in this game. I’m predicting 10 tackles and a forced fumble. I also feel that Crowell and Wire will be all over the field as well.

Lee Evans and Peerless Price vs. Champ Bailey and Dre Bly: I am looking forward to see how well Evans does against arguably the best corner in the league in Champ Bailey.
Lee Evans has the speed to get by Bailey so the Bills should go deep right away to take Bailey out of his game. Peerless Price needs to have a good game against Bly to take away some pressure from Evans. Also look for Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish to play a big role in the slot. I feel that we can attack Denver either with the long ball or quick routes from our speedy slot receivers. I’m predicting Lee Evans to have 6 catches for 107 yards and one touchdown. Peerless will have 5 catches for 60 yards. Parrish and Reed will combine for over 100 yards with Reed having a touchdown grab. Also look for Reed to have a running play. He has a knack for breaking tackles.

Jay Cutler vs. Bills secondary: We all know that Jay Cutler has a cannon. Some of the passes he made last year were amazing. Terrence McGee, Jason Webster, Donte Whitner and Ko Simpson need to be on their game tomorrow. Denver has a few good wide receivers especially Javon Walker. Look for McGee to be locked in on him all day. I’m predicting an interception from Whitner. I really feel that he will have a great year at the strong safety position. Jabari Greer should get some time as the nickel back.

I feel that those three are the key matchups the Bills need to win in order to get a victory tomorrow. I can’t wait to see Marshawn Lynch and hope that he has a great game. J.P. Losman will be ready to go and lead this team to victory. For all of you fans with the Sunday ticket, The Bills are on channel 704 and in HD on channel 719. My prediction is Bills 27 - Broncos 20.

Pre-Season Game 2: Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills

August 19, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Anthony Hargrove, Buffalo Bills, Coy Wire, Donte Whitner, J.P. Losman, John McCargo, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

The Buffalo Bills dropped a tough one against Atlanta on Friday. Even though they lost the game, there were many positive signs. J.P. Losman had a few nice throws and Marshawn Lynch showed some flashes of his cutting ability. Lee Evans made a fantastic catch on the sidelines for a 36-yard gain. J.P. and Lee continue to develop that chemistry that came on during the second half of last season. Although the Falcons marched down the field on their opening drive, the defense led by Paul Poslusny and Donte Whitner, stuffed Atlanta at the goaline on fourth down. Coy Wire had some serious hits and caused a fumble that landed in the hands of John McCargo. Wire did a terrific job filling in for Angelo Crowell. I guess the switch to linebacker has him pumped. Most of the starters on offense played the entire first half. The play of the night on offense was Trent Edwards hitting Roscoe Parrish for a 10 yard TD. On the defensive side, Anthony Hargove intercepted a pass and took it to the ten-yard line, which led to the TD pass from Edwards. Overall the team played well but I for one cannot wait to see the finished product take the field on September 9th. The major concern I have, as does every other Bills fan is stopping the run this year. I hope McCargo turns out to be the guy that we all thought he would be. Lets go Bills. Can’t wait for the regular season to begin.
