Hello Bills fans. I posted an article last week on how Donte Whitner is taking Leodis McKelvin under his wing and helping him on and off the field. Whitner is now doing the same thing with second round pick James Hardy. Whitner is showing us all how great of a teammate and person he is. He is going to keep both players focused and in turn this will make the team better. Whitner should be nominated a captain this season because of his dedication to the team and all of its new players. The Bills are extremely lucky to have such a great player and person such as Donte Whitner on their team. Check out the video on buffalobills.com. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. Today the team announced that they have signed seventh round pick Steve Johnson. Johnson was the second of three seven round picks the Bills had in the 2008 draft. Johnson had a monster senior year as a receiver, posting over 1,000 yards and 13 tds. He has great size at 6′2″ 200 lbs. He will be competing for the fifth wide receiver spot with special teams standout Justin Jenkins. If the the team only decides to keep five receivers, the training camp battle between Jenkins and Johnson will be one to watch. With a little grooming, Johnson can turn out to be a solid receiver in the NFL.
On the NFL Network program total access, Jamie Dukes was asked about what he thought of Donte Whitner’s comment that said he guaranteed the Bills will make the playoffs. Dukes responded by saying that he agrees with Whitner. I always like Dukes and feel that he is a 100% right. Thanks for billieving. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. There is a great article on sportingnews.com of how Bills starting safety Donte Whitner has taken rookie Leodis McKelvin under his wing. Whitner has let McKelvin move in with him and is showing him how to be a leader on and off the field. About half way through the article, Whitner was asked if he expects to make the playoffs this year. His answer ”I’m guaranteeing it.” I think this team can definitely reach the playoffs due to all of the key acquistions and draft picks we had this offseason. Whitner is a true leader and is showing his desire to get the team back to the playoffs. He not only has taken McKelvin in, he is showing him us Bills fans that he deserves to be captain of the defense. He is becoming one of my favorite players on the team. He is an extremely classy person and Im glad that he is on the team. Go Donte. Go Bills. Playoffs here we come.

Hello Bills fans. Early today Bills starting safety Donte Whitner was on ESPN First Take. He was asked about how the defense will rebound from finishing 31st in the league last season. He responded by talking about Marcus Stroud and Kawika Mitchell. Donte also mentioned injuries as a big factor in last seasons 7-9 record. He also said that with Paul Posluszny coming back and the additions the team has made in the draft, the Bills will be in the playoffs this season. I like the optimism Donte. I totally agree with you. Check out the video on espn.com. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. There is a great article on buffalobills.com about when Donte Whitner was in college at Ohio State, they had to specifically game plan for James Hardy. Whitner goes on to say that Hardy will make some noise this coming season. He states that he was one of the few receivers in college that demanded great attention. I feel that Hardy is going to help our offense out tremendously. He is going to open things up for Lee Evans on the other side and get Roscoe Parrish and Josh Reed more opportunities out of the slot position. The Bills will use Hardy size on a weekly basis especially in the red-zone. I cant wait to see this guy in action. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. With the draft only four days away, its still a mystery on who the Bills will select with the 11th overall pick. The only thing set in stone so far in this years draft is the #1 overall pick. The Dolphins agreed to a mega money deal with Michigan offensive lineman Jake Long. The rest of the draft is a mystery. There are always the top guys such as Glen Dorsey, Chris Long, Darren Mcfadden and Vernon Gholston that wont last past pick #7. The Buffalo News thinks the Bills will select Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas. They state that the team was said to have reached when they selected safety Donte Whitner eighth overall in the 2006 draft. The article also states that Thomas is said to be highly regarded by the Bills front office. He is rated as the top wideout by many and will without a doubt be drafted in the first round. If the Bills dont take him at 11, I cant see him lasting past the early twenties. Im really excited for this draft and feel that the Bills will make all the right moves. Lets Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. With only two weeks until the NFL Draft, its still a mystery on who the Bills will pick. Many experts feel that we will select a cornerback but I still feel that we will take a wide receiver. I know that this is a deep draft for wideouts but I still feel that the team will take one with the 11th pick. After Malcolm Kelly’s pro day, I think the team will select Devin Thomas from Michigan State. Thomas is 6′2″ receiver that will take a lot of pressure off of Lee Evans. Thomas could be thought of as a reach because of his one year of production, but that is what all of the so called experts said about Donte Whitner when the Bills selected him 8th overall back in 2006. I have faith in our front office and know that they will select a player that will help this team out tremendously in the 2008 season. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. The Buffalo Bills currently have six safeties on their roster. Strong safety Donte Whitner is going to be called on a lot more this upcoming season. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell will use Whitner in various roles including free safety. Ko Simpson was the starting free safety until he was lost for the season in the first game. Simpson is coming back from an ankle injury and stated that he is close to 100 percent. It was a big loss when Ko went down because both he and Whitner played well in 2006. Veteran backup strong safety Bryan Scott was re-signed and will provide great depth and special team play. Second year safety John Wendling is a demon on special teams and will continue to backup both the free and strong position. Converted wide receiver George Wilson played real well last year filling in for Simpson. Wilson showed that he can play safety and had a interception returned for a touchdown in his first game starting against the Cowboys on Monday night football. In my opinion, the safety position is one of the strongest on this team. Our depth players had valuable experience last season filling in for our injured players. Im sure the team will sometimes use three safeties on running downs and keep Whitner in the box. Whitner is a physical corner that is developing into a solid player. Wendling, Wilson and Scott will be helping out the special teams just like they did last season. I cant wait to see this defense in action. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. Today the team announced that they have re-signed safety Bryan Scott. Scott was signed after Ko Simpson went down in week one. He played in 15 games with two starts. Scott brings experience to the secondary and at 6′1″ 219 lbs can be used at the line of scrimmage on running downs. I was hoping the Bills would bring Scott back because he played well last season. He is also a assest on special teams and will most likely backup Donte Whitner.
It has been reported on NFL.com that the Bills have come to terms on a two year contract with free agent cornerback Will James. It has not been mentioned on the official Bills website just yet. I think James will bring experience and might push Jabari Greer for the starting role. James has played his seven year career with the Giants and the Eagles. James chose the Bills over other teams that were interested in him because of his chances to start. If James can stay healthy, the team will be able to use either Terrence McGee or Jabari Greer as the nickel back. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. My one question is where did the team that was playing in the first quarter go? After building a 14-0 lead after two impressive scoring drives, the Bills offense was basically non-existent. Trent Edwards looked very impressive early on throwing two nice touchdown passes. His 42-yard bomb to Roscoe Parrish setup his four-yard strike to Lee Evans. Evans made a phenomenal move to get open for the reception. After their third possession stalled and the Bills were forced to punt, long snapper Ryan Neill bounced on to punter Brian Moorman. Moorman picked up the ball and tried to run with it but was quickly brought to the ground. It seemed like right after that play the momentum changed. The Giants had a short field and scored right away. The lead was now down to 7. After the Giants got the ball back, the Bills defense forced them to punt. Safety Donte Whitner tried to block the punt but ran over Giants punter Jeff Feagles. Roughing the kicker penalty was called and the Giants had new life. On the next play, Brandon Jacobs took one 40+ yards for the score. The game was now tied. Two major mental mistakes gave the Giants two scores and new life. This was similar to what went down in Jacksonville only a few weeks ago. Our once strong special team units suddenly cost us 14 points. You cannot win games with major mental errors like that. The Giants would add a field goal and take a 17-14 lead going into the half. The Bills would take the lead in the third quarter thanks to Marshawn Lynch. After the defense forced turnovers and held the Giants at the goal line on 4th down, Edwards tried to hit Lee Evans on a crossing route. The ball bounced off of Evans chest and the ball was intercepted and taken back for a touchdown. What looked like a promising second half turned into a disaster. The Giants were up 24-21 and never looked back. Our offense sputtered in the final quarter and the Giants returned another interception for the icing on the cake. I thought that Kevin Everett’s presence would have the Bills all pumped up. They came out hot but became cold as the game wore on. Terrible game.
