Bills Quick Hits

March 06, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

buffalo-bills-logo.gifHello Bills fans.  The acquisition of Marcus Stroud will make two of his teammates very happy.  Defensive Ends Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay are going to love having Stroud occupy lineman so that they can have one on ones.  Schobel and Kelsay struggled this year to accumulate sacks because of the lack of penetration by the defensive tackles.  Stroud is a dominant force and is a great tackler.  Linebackers Paul Posluszny, Angelo Crowell and Kawika Mitchell will also benefit from our fearsome front line.  I can’t wait to see this defense in action.

Free agency has slowed down a bit at One Bills Drive.  There were a few visits this week but no signings.  I think the team will make a move this weekend and hopefully it will be a wide receiver and a tight end.  As of right now, those two positions are big needs for this offense.  Go Bills.

Bills Sign Linebacker

February 29, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  The team announced on the first day of free agency that they have agreed to terms with linebacker Kawika Mitchell.  Mitchell comes over from the New York Giants and will most likely play on the weakside.  Mitchell is big, fast and only 28 years old.  This is a great signing and linebacker is now a position of strength on this team.  Teaming Mitchell up with Posluszny and Crowell is going to do wonders for this defense.  Go Bills.

Salary Cap

February 19, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, Keith Ellison, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

Hello Bills fans. As free agency approaches, the Bills are an estimated 30+ million under the salary cap. The team also has 49 players under contract going into the 2008 season. This should mean that the Bills will go after a few free agents starting February 29th. The front office spent a lot last offseason to beef up the offensive line. I’m expecting that to be done this year on the defensive line. The two main positions that should be focused on are defensive line and linebacker. Many complained after the team shelled out big contracts to both Chris Kelsay and Aaron Schobel. Kelsay had a disappointing season but was bothered by an ankle injury. Schobel didn’t have as many sacks as he did in 06 but was voted to the Pro Bowl. He improved on every area of his game and if the team can pick up a defensive tackle, both players will have a great season in 08. I would love to see them pursue Albert Haynesworth but I believe he will stay with the Titans. As of right now, Paul Posluszny and Angelo Crowell are penciled in as starting linebackers. The team will look to improve on the weakside position, which is currently being held by Keith Ellison. I like Ellison and think he is solid but he is undersized. My dream would be for the team to sign Lance Briggs. I don’t think that will happen because Briggs is going to get big money and the Bills will state that he is out of their price range. Look for the team to draft a linebacker or pickup an up and coming star. I also have a feeling that the team will sign a wide receiver. I mentioned that they are interested in Ernest Wilford and I believe he wont command that big of a contract. I’m looking forward to free agency and feel the team will address some major needs before the draft. Go Bills.

Bills Looking To Draft Linebacker?

January 28, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Keith Ellison, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  As the Super Bowl approaches, I cant stop thinking about who the Bills will take in the 2008 NFL Draft.  I read an article today on realfootball365 about the Bills coaches interviewing and observing linebackers at this past Saturdays Senior Bowl.  The team is looking for a weakside linebacker to replace Keith Ellison.  I for one liked the way Ellison played but was a little undersized and didn’t make much noise when on the field.  The best linebackers available are Keith Rivers from USC and Xavier Adibi from Virginia Tech.  Putting Rivers or Adibi next to Posluszny and Crowell will do wonders for the Bills defense.  I don’t know if the Bills will take a linebacker with the 11th pick because I don’t feel that is our most pressing need.  The defense can really use a defensive tackle and a tall wide receiver.  I would love to address both of those needs in free agency and then we will be able to draft Rivers with the 11th pick.  We will have to wait and see what the Bills front office does once free agency starts.  April cannot come soon enough.  Go Bills.

Senior Bowl Standouts

January 26, 2008 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, John McCargo, NFL, Paul Posluszny, Roscoe Parrish No Comments →

Hello Bills fans.  I just watched the Senior Bowl and here is my list of players that would help the Bills in a big way.  Defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis from USC is a beast.  He made a bunch of plays today and had to be doubled teamed most of the time.  I hope this guy falls to the Bills at #11.  He will most likely be a top five pick.  The guy is going to be a great pro.  Draft expert Mike Mayock ranks Ellis above Glenn Dorsey from LSU.  I pray that he is still there when the Bills are on the board.  Another defensive tackle that impressed me was Trevor Laws from Notre Dame.  He is another defensive playmaker.  He gets into the backfield quick and has a knack for the ball.  Either Ellis or Laws would be great alongside John McCargo.  Linebacker Dan Conner is also another possibility.  He is a great tackler and would be a great complement to Paul Posluszny and Angelo Crowell.  Conner will definitely be a first round pick but I don’t know if the Bills will go linebacker with their first round pick.  Defensive Back Rodgers-Cromartie from Tennessee State had a tremendous game.  He has the speed to close on receivers and the ball skills to get the interception.  He might be the best corner in the draft.  I was trying to get a good look at the wide receivers.  There wasn’t one that jumped out at me.  I like Adarius Bowman’s size but he couldn’t hold on to the ball in the endzone.  Caldwell from Florida is a speedster but reminds me of a bigger Roscoe Parrish.  There were a few receivers that didn’t play because of injury that I would have liked to see.  I think the Bills should go defense in round one and then draft a receiver in the second round.  The receiver class is deep this year so the Bills can afford to wait.  I can’t wait for the combine to see more of the players I mentioned.  Go Bills.

Final Game 12: Bills 17 Redskins 16

December 02, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Fred Jackson, Josh Reed, Larry Tripplett, Lee Evans, NFL, Rian Lindell, Terrence McGee, Trent Edwards No Comments →

bills.jpgHello Bills fans. The Buffalo Bills went into Washington and came out with a win. Rian Lindell kicked the game winning field goal with four seconds left to get the Bills their sixth victory of the season. Lindell kicked five field goals on the day. Trent Edwards had a productive day going 22 for 36 with 257 yards. He threw a big 31 yard pass to Josh Reed to setup the game winning field goal. Fred Jackson rushed 16 times for 82 yards and also had over 60 receiving yards. The defense came up big holding the Redskins to only 16 points. Linebacker Angelo Crowell sacked Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell in the endzone to get the safety. Aaron Schobel and Ryan Denney had great games. Schobel had a nice sack on Campbell. Terrence McGee came up with a big deflection on a pass that was intercepted by Larry Tripplett. Edwards showed great poise and accuracy in leading the Bills down the field with less than a minute left. I was really impressed with the way the team played today. They never gave up and played hard the entire game. Although the defense struggled in the first half, they came up big in the fourth quarter. This was a great team win. We are still in the playoff hunt thanks to Trent. Lets Go Buffalo.

Final Game 8: Bills 33 Bengals 21

jp-losman.jpglee-evans.jpgmarshawn.jpgHello Bills fans. What a game. Our offense finally put up some points and our defense played almost lights out. Marshawn Lynch had his best game of the season rushing 29 times for 153 yards. His best run of the day was the 56 yard touchdown to seal the victory in the 4th quarter. Lynch broke a couple of tackles on the play and then took off down the sideline. No one was going to catch him. He got up to full speed in a hurry. Lynch also threw his first career touchdown pass to Robert Royal giving the Bills a five point lead. He got the pitch from J.P. Losman and threw a perfect spiral to Royal in the endzone. What a fantastic play call. Losman also had a fantastic day going 24-34 for 295 and a touchdown. He also threw an interception but I will take those numbers any day. Lee Evans had another terrific game with nine receptions for 165 and a touchdown. Losman and Evans have great chemistry and it shows on the field. The offensive line played great today giving Losman plenty of time to scan the field. He threw some nice checkdowns to Michael Gaines and Robert Royal. Angelo Crowell led the defense with 14 tackles. He was all over the field. Our defense as a whole played great allowing only 28 yards rushing. Jabari Greer and Terrence McGee played a great game forcing Palmer to make some bad throws. Kiwaukee Thomas came up with an interception to end the game. Great game by both the offense and the defense. I was a little disappointed in the special teams coverage. They gave up a 100 yard return for a touchdown. That is so unlike Bobby Aprils unit. We made up for it with a few good punt returns. This was a great team win. I also want to thank Coach Jauron for putting a great game plan in place. Our offense again controlled the clock and would have scored more if we didn’t have to settle for field goals on a couple of drives. It feels really good to get to .500. I hope we continue to play like we have the last three weeks. This team is starting to come together and everyone is playing hard. Our defense has been fantastic and our offense is starting to show that we have the weapons to score. Lets Go Bills. Great win yesterday.

John DiGiorgio Is The Man

November 02, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, John DiGiorgio, Keith Ellison, NFL, Paul Posluszny No Comments →

billslogo.jpgjohn-digiorgio.jpgHello Bills Fans. All I have to say is that I really like the way John DiGiorgio plays football. He seems to always be around the ball. He never misses a tackle and his speed allows him to get to the outside in a hurry. He has 52 total tackles so far this season and he didn’t play until Paul Posluzsny went down in week three. He also has one sack, one interception, and one fumble recovery. It seems that every game he is always making a play. Whether it be corralling a running back or stopping a receiver from getting a first down, DiGiorgio is turning into a playmaker. I’m not going to anoint him a pro bowler just yet. I have to say that I’m very impressed with the way he plays the game. He is an undersized middle linebacker but makes up for that with his hustle and desire. It also helps that he is playing next to in my opinion one of the most underrated linebackers in the league. Angelo Crowell gets better and better every game. He, Keith Ellison and DiGiorgio make a great linebacker trio. When Poz went down, I was really upset. He was becoming one of my favorites on this team. I didn’t know what to think about DiGiorgio at first. I only saw him play on special teams last season and during the preseason this year. I’m turning into a DiGiorgio fan because I feel that this is a player with a little more experience can be an all-star. Thanks DiGiorgio. Lets get them Bengals.

Final Game 7: Bills 13 Jets 3

October 28, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Anthony Hargrove, Buffalo Bills, Chris Kelsay, J.P. Losman, Jabari Greer, John DiGiorgio, John McCargo, John Wendling, Kyle Williams, Lee Evans, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Terrence McGee, Trent Edwards No Comments →

john-digiorgio.jpglosman_jp2.jpglee-evans.jpgHello Bills fans. The Buffalo Bills defeated the Jets today 13-3. Trent Edwards started the game and went 14-21 for 130 yards and one interception. He left the game at the end of the third quarter with a wrist injury. J.P. Losman came off the bench and went 3-5 for 113 yards and a touchdown. His 85-yard bomb to Lee Evans put the Bills ahead to stay. He also threw a bomb to Roscoe Parrish that was on the money but Parrish couldn’t hold on. Losman came in and drove the team to two scoring drives. Marshawn Lynch had 21 carries for 80 yards. As always all of his yards were hard fought. The offense was really sluggish today until the 4th quarter. We had a great opening drive that lasted over ten minutes but couldn’t put the ball in the endzone. Rian Lindell was perfect on the day going 2 for 2 on field goals. The defense had another tremendous game. What can I say, it just seems that we are getting better and better on the defensive side. Aaron Schobel had a sack and two forced fumbles. John DiGiorgio led the team with 13 tackles. Kyle Williams and John McCargo contributed with some great tackles. Angelo Crowell had a big sack knocking the Jets out of field goal range. Anthony Hargrove and Chris Kelsay had solid games applying pressure on Pennington. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell really has these guys playing hard. Terrence McGee and Jabari Greer held Coles and Cotchery in check. Our special teams also played great. Our punt and kickoff coverage was phenomenal. John Wendling had two special teams tackles. I was very nervous during this game because it was close up until Evans touchdown. Our young team is finding ways to win close games. Something that was a tough task only a few weeks ago. Lets Go Bills. Thanks for the win

Preview Game 7: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets

October 27, 2007 By: Billy5407 Category: Aaron Schobel, Angelo Crowell, Buffalo Bills, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Roscoe Parrish, Trent Edwards No Comments →

billslogo.jpgHello Bills fans. This Sunday, the Buffalo Bills travel to the Meadowlands to take on the Jets. Rookie quarterback Trent Edwards will make his fourth start of the season. Edwards faced the Jets in week four and had an impressive game. Hopefully he can do it again and lead the Bills to victory. Here are the key matchups to this week’s game.

Trent Edwards vs. Jets Secondary: The Jets defense has given up a lot of yards and will be without their best player Jonathan Vilma. Edwards should have enough time to throw the ball against the Jets defense. Hopefully Lee Evans can have a big game and catch a couple of long balls from Edwards. Look for Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish to have plenty of receptions in this one. I feel that if our o-line can protect Trent, we should be able to move the ball threw the air.

Thomas Jones vs. Bills defense: The Bills defensive line needs to keep Jones under 100 yards. If we can stop the run, it will force Chad Pennington to air it out. Our defensive backs might have a few interceptions if our d-line can get some pressure on Pennington. Look for Aaron Schobel to have a big game. I’m going to say that Schobel will have two sacks in this one. I also feel that our defense has come a long way. We have speedy linebackers that can fly to the ball. Angelo Crowell will be making tackles all over the field.

Marshawn Lynch vs. Jets run defense: This game is a perfect opportunity for Lynch to get his first 100-yard game. The Bills will give Lynch the ball early and often and I’m hoping he can bust open for a big gain. Our offensive line needs to control the line of scrimmage and open some holes for Lynch. I also believe that Lynch will play a big part in the passing game. Lynch is due for a big game and this could be the week he gets it. I’m going to predict 28 carries for 128 and two tds.

This is a game the Bills need to win. If we play like we did last week we will come out victorious. Trent Edwards and Marshawn Lynch will have big games and our defense will hopefully create some turnovers. I’m also hoping to see a big game from Lee Evans. My prediction is Bills 23 Jets 10. Lets Go Bills. Bring home a victory.
