If Buffalo Wants to Win, Jauron needs to Go
The Buffalo Bills dropped a must-win game in an infuriating fashion Sunday afternoon to the San Francisco 49ers, 10-3.
It was the worse game of pro football that I have ever seen the Bills play.
Now this is not just a knee jerk reaction to the loss, it is taking a look at the larger picture and it all comes down to Head Coach Dick Jauron.
A team’s play is shown though the head coach and the Bills currently have a very weak one.
When he was signed to the Bills three years ago. the general public was not really going to challenge the signing. He was the great Marv Levy’s choice and who was going to speak up against the Bills legend.
When he came to Buffalo, Jauron was 36-49 (.398) after spending 6 years between the Detriot Lions and Chicago Bears, with only one winning season. He had only been to the playoffs once, and lost in that game with a 13-3 Bears team.
Now Jauron is on the hot seat, after two 7-9 seasons and now a 6-6 one. Now let’s be honest, if you told me the Bills were 6-6 at this point and still in the playoff hunt (even slim) I would have said it was a pretty decent job.
However, when you have a team start off the year 5-1 and then losing five of the last six games that is not acceptable, no matter who the head coach is.
So instead of going after a guy like Mike Sherman, an experienced coach who has won some games and brought a small market team like Green Bay into one of the better teams in the NFL they brought in a book smart guy who went to Yale.
The problem is, Yale doesn’t teach you how to coach a winning football team.
I don’t even know where to start with this guy. From wasting timeouts to his terrible post game press confrences, the guy doesn’t deserve to be a football coach. It is the sad truth, but the Bills need change and Jauron is the man that has to go.
