Hello Bills fans. The NFL has awarded the Bills with two compensatory picks in April’s Draft. One pick will be in the fourth round and the other is a seventh round selection. The fourth round pick is #132 and the seventh is #251. The Bills now have 10 total picks with six of them being in the top 150. The compensatory picks cannot be traded but this might allow the Bills to trade up using some of their other picks. The Draft is only 26 days away and I say the more picks the merrier. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. On April 9th, Oklahoma wide receiver Malcolm Kelly will workout for NFL teams. He has yet to show off his speed due to injuries. Kelly is expected to run in the 4.4’s and if he manages to do that, I can’t see the Bills passing him up in the draft. Kelly is the big target this team needs and if the Bills stay put at the 11th pick, I think they will select him. I could also see the Bills trading down in the draft and taking another wide receiver such as Limas Sweed or James Hardy. Regardless of where we draft, the Bills will take a wideout. I hope Kelly shows that he has healed 100% and wows the Bills scouts. Lets Go Buffalo.

Hello Bills fans. The Buffalo Bills currently have six safeties on their roster. Strong safety Donte Whitner is going to be called on a lot more this upcoming season. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell will use Whitner in various roles including free safety. Ko Simpson was the starting free safety until he was lost for the season in the first game. Simpson is coming back from an ankle injury and stated that he is close to 100 percent. It was a big loss when Ko went down because both he and Whitner played well in 2006. Veteran backup strong safety Bryan Scott was re-signed and will provide great depth and special team play. Second year safety John Wendling is a demon on special teams and will continue to backup both the free and strong position. Converted wide receiver George Wilson played real well last year filling in for Simpson. Wilson showed that he can play safety and had a interception returned for a touchdown in his first game starting against the Cowboys on Monday night football. In my opinion, the safety position is one of the strongest on this team. Our depth players had valuable experience last season filling in for our injured players. Im sure the team will sometimes use three safeties on running downs and keep Whitner in the box. Whitner is a physical corner that is developing into a solid player. Wendling, Wilson and Scott will be helping out the special teams just like they did last season. I cant wait to see this defense in action. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. Today was the first offseason conditioning program. As per the Bills official website, nearly 50 players showed up for the voluntary workout. Players like Trent Edwards, Lee Evans, Chris Kelsay, Paul Posluszny, Josh Reed and Terrence McGee were in attendance. Its great to see some of the main guys show up.
In other news, the team officially announced the signing of cornerback Will James to a multi-year deal. James will be given the chance to win a starting job. He brings experience and size to the Bills secondary. James is six feet tall and 200 pounds which will help when covering receiver like Randy Moss. I hope James can stay healthy and help improve the teams pass defense. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. The first offseason conditioning session starts tomorrow at One Bills Drive. Although the workouts are voluntary, most of the players have attended during Coach Dick Jauron’s tenure. Im anxious to see some of the new guys especially Marcus Stroud and Kawika Mitchell. I really feel this defense will be a force this year and will only get better as time goes on. Its amazing that the first team activity is here already. Before we know it the draft will be here and then the rookie mini-camp which is scheduled for early May. I cant wait for the 2008 season. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. With the draft quickly approaching, most mock drafts have the Bills taking a wide receiver with the 11th pick. This draft is said to be deep at wideout but many experts don’t have any receivers with a first round grade. The Bills could possibly go with a defensive player. Cornerback is a position of need but with the rumored signing of William James, it is not a necessity. Defensive end or tackle is also a position that might be hard to pass on. If say Glen Dorsey or Derrick Harvey fall out of the top ten, it might be hard for the Bills to pass up on either of them. I would like to see the team take a wide receiver but if we are able to get a quality red zone threat in the second round, Im all for beefing up the defense. Rookie wideouts take some time to adjust to the pro game. An impact defensive player will contribute right away. The draft is only 35 days away and Im sure our front office will make the right decision. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. It was announced the other day that the Bills will be playing a preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Toronto. The game will be sometime in August. The regular season game in Toronto will be announced when the 2008 schedule comes out. I have a feeling that the regular season game will end up being in a prime time spot. Possibly a monday night or Thanksgiving night game. I dont like the fact that we are only playing seven games at the Ralph this season. Lets hope Toronto gives us the same home field advantage as the Ralph does. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. Today the University of Texas had its pro day. Wide Receiver Limas Sweed and tight end Jermichael Finley are two players the Bills could target in this years draft. Sweed is a tall receiver that ran a 4.47 forty and displayed good hands in all receiver drills. Sweed missed eight games this past season with a wrist injury but when interviewed said the wrist is doing fine. Sweed along with Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas will be looked at extensively by the Bills. Finley might be an option in the third round. He ran well and is 6′5″ 240 pounds. After exclusively going defense in free agency, the Bills will likely draft a receiver and a tight end with their first two picks. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. Today the team announced that they have re-signed safety Bryan Scott. Scott was signed after Ko Simpson went down in week one. He played in 15 games with two starts. Scott brings experience to the secondary and at 6′1″ 219 lbs can be used at the line of scrimmage on running downs. I was hoping the Bills would bring Scott back because he played well last season. He is also a assest on special teams and will most likely backup Donte Whitner.
It has been reported on NFL.com that the Bills have come to terms on a two year contract with free agent cornerback Will James. It has not been mentioned on the official Bills website just yet. I think James will bring experience and might push Jabari Greer for the starting role. James has played his seven year career with the Giants and the Eagles. James chose the Bills over other teams that were interested in him because of his chances to start. If James can stay healthy, the team will be able to use either Terrence McGee or Jabari Greer as the nickel back. Go Bills.

Hello Bills fans. It looks more and more like the Bills will be waiting for the draft to upgrade their wide receiver corps. Free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson chose to sign a one-year deal with the 49ers instead of a multi-year deal with the Bills. Johnson stated that he wanted to join the Bills but they couldn’t come to terms on money. His agent countered with a shorter deal but the Bills didn’t want any part of that. I guess Johnson rather have a one-year deal and cash in next year if he has a big season. That’s a serious risk to take especially being a football player. I feel that things happen for a reason and maybe the receiver we draft will turn out to be a stud. There hasn’t been much news from One Bills drive in the last couple of days. I think the front office has turned their full attention to the draft and will look to upgrade certain positions with young players. I just hope that we don’t reach for a receiver in the first round. I would rather take a lock down corner in the first and draft someone like James Hardy in the second round. The draft cannot get here soon enough. Go Bills.
