Slow Starts for the Bills
Hello Bills fans. Year after Year as the season approaches, there is always something inside of me saying this could be our year to get back to the playoffs. I don’t know if it’s just the fact that I feel the Bills are due or I’m dreaming of one of those storybook seasons. It seems as if every since the late 90’s, the Bills are stuck in this funk that is hard to get out of. It seems like every season in the NFL there are a few teams that make the playoffs that were unsuccessful the year before. Why can’t that team be the Bills? I know that we are young and lost a lot of veterans, but we didn’t win with the guys we had and I thought that with some fresh blood we could get that wildcard spot. Every year I hope for the best and continue to do so even if the playoffs are out of reach. This team in my opinion does have the tools to be successful. I am not saying that we can play with the powerhouses of the league yet, but we should be able to get to that nine or ten win plateau. I like probably all other Bills fans got severely spoiled in the 90’s. Every year was almost a guarantee to get to the playoffs. I miss playing in January and hope in the near future we can get back to that level. It just amazes me that every year it seems we start of slow. Losing the first four games of the 2004 season cost us the playoffs that year. I was at the first game that year against Jacksonville. We had that game but couldn’t come away victorious. After finishing that season 9-7, I looked back and said why couldn’t we have beat Jacksonville in week one. That team was on a roll and lost to the Steelers second and third stringers in the final week of the season. Two games we should have won but didn’t cost us the playoffs. That season we put together a nice winning streak and could have made some noise in the playoffs. That would have ended our streak of not making the playoffs. It has now been 7 years since our last trip to the postseason. Coming into this season, I thought this team could make a run at the wildcard. Finishing up the season 7-9 last year after a terrible first half was a positive sign. I felt that J.P. Losman was a year older and playing in the same offense. Our main weapons were all coming back and drafting Marshawn Lynch would really help us out. Well here we are 0-2 and the Patriots up this Sunday. I feel even though we have struggled the first two games, we usually play the Pats tough in New England. I feel if Losman wants to show us what he can do for this team, this is the week. I want to see this team play to the best of their ability and give the Pats everything they have. Lets not hold anything back. Lets attack and get some pressure on Tom Brady. I do believe in Miracles and feel that an upset is coming. Lets Go Bills.
